In English, our vision is:

To promote a purposeful learning programme, which is inclusive and in line with the National Curriculum, in order to develop successful speakers, readers and writers.

Curriculum Aim

At Beechwood School, in English, our curriculum aim is to promote high standards of language and literacy by equipping pupils with a strong command of the spoken and written word, and to develop their love of literature through widespread reading for enjoyment.

Curriculum Intent

In English, we meet the curriculum aims of the school by following the spiral and sequencing models to allow students to develop their knowledge gradually. The curriculum across the Key Stages has been shaped in light of our students’ needs and consequently the main priorities are to effectively balance the reading and writing skills and rigorously select an engaging and inspirational range of texts and topics.
