Sixth Form

If you are aspiring to be the best, and if you are prepared to give of your best to secure this goal, then the Beechwood Sixth Form may well be right for you!

In Beechwood Sixth Form, young men and women excel. Provision and standards are exceptionally high. Students who engage and seize all opportunities, are assured of success.

Our admissions’ criteria make it clear that places in the Sixth Form are not guaranteed.  All our Sixth Form students need to show they have the required attitude, aptitude and potential.

If this is you/could be you, then you will be awarded a place on a two or three year programme of study.

We very much look forward to discussing this with you and to providing you with all of the information, support and guidance you need to make the best decision.

Sumaiyah would like to share with you her Year 12 Experience:

It’s a strange feeling looking back on Year 12 that, not too long ago, felt like a massive leap into the unknown. My name is Sumaiyah and I am a Senior Sixth Leader in Year 13. I am currently studying BTEC Science, Health and Social Care, and Criminology, and next year I hope to start an apprenticeship to become an Engineer.

After completing my GCSEs at Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy I joined Beechwood Sixth Form. I remember the nerves, being an external student joining a new school community. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would I make friends? Would I fit in?

Would I even survive the year? I walked into a place where friendship groups were already formed, routines were already established, and classrooms were already filled with faces unfamiliar to me. But I also walked into a place full of opportunity, of new beginnings, and people who were about to become a big part of my life.

The truth is: starting somewhere new is never easy. But it's in that discomfort and challenge where we grow the most. And throughout last year, my first year in Sixth Form, I grew, not only academically but also socially, in confidence, independence, and resilience. I’ve learned how to ask for help when I need it, how to manage my time (most of the time), and how to walk into a room full of strangers and trust that, eventually, they won't be strangers anymore.

Year 12 wasn’t perfect for me and it won't be for you. No year is. But it was real, and it mattered.

So to anyone who's feeling unsure, new, or out of place: I see you - I was you and it's okay. Take it one step at a time.
